Glenna likes action movies and superheroes.
Iron Man, Superman, Iron Man, Batman, Iron Man, Iron Man, and more Iron Man. No wonder Robert Downey, Jr.’s comment that he had a ‘pit crew’ of people helping him live his life caught her eye!
In his own words, he was “…a Ferrari, not a Ford and it took more of a ‘pit crew’ to keep him on the road.” His remark catalyzed her exploration of the ‘pit crew’ supporting her life. The result is her newest – and eighth – career: Founder and CEO of SageLife, LLC.
SageMyLife™ will help individuals, families and businesses become aware of the ‘pit crews’ in their life: the networks of people who help them achieve their goals for health, happiness and success. Then, it will help them manage those networks more efficiently and effectively.
SageLife is a natural extension of her earlier careers. In each one, it was her job to organize chaos, solve complex problems and create effective strategies for clients. Some called her a “one-woman think tank.” To many, she was a confidential advisor, especially during tough times. With her, they shared their deepest desires to create a better world and their toughest leadership challenges in doing so. She has profound respect and admiration for each one.
Her expertise comes from interdisciplinary doctoral studies and senior positions in the public, not-for-profit and private sectors. She was an appointee of President Ronald Reagan responsible for policy issues in domestic and international programs valued (in current dollars) at $60 billion. In that role, she worked with President Jimmy Carter and the best-of-the-best in public health. For her efforts, she was the first civilian to be awarded The Surgeon General’s Medallion, by C. Everett Koop. She was Chairman of the National Commission on Orphan Disease and was awarded a medal for her contributions in that field as well. She was one of the innovators in creating global public policy operations in the biopharmaceutical industry, at Merck & Co., Inc. During Merck’s Most Admired Corporation years, her group won recognition as the best in the Fortune 500. As Global Vice President of Merck’s Vaccine Division, she designed world-wide operations, tripling sales in fewer than three years to $1 billion, creating the platform for current sales of $3 billion.
SageLife will be the third company she’s founded. Strategic Health Policy International, Inc. advised businesses and governments for more than 20 years. Best Edge™ is only eight years old and is the scalable forerunner to SageLife. Prior to her public health career, she worked as one of the first of a new generation of School Psychologists. The models she piloted for education of children with special needs – and special talents – eventually became standard practice throughout the nation.
Most of her writing is proprietary and cannot be shared outside client companies but the positive solutions she has created are well known and earned her a place as an inaugural Disruptive Women in Healthcare. She has authored several books, among them Covenants: Inspiring the Soul of Healing and two books on innovative Grantseeking.
Her newest book, The Network Sage, is due for publication in 2016 and she have several others on the back-burner for when she can find the time!
As a philanthropist, she played a key role in creating several Foundations and donated proceeds from her books to improve the health of women and children in the developing world. She currently donates cards, prints and posters of my mu shin style of Zen calligraphy to fundraisers for children with special needs.
Glenna believes that wise management of networks will unleash the ‘pent up’ potential she sees in herself and in those around her. She believes it will help people everywhere transform life for themselves and others and that all of us will all be better for it. SageMyLife™ is her way of helping to make that happen.
