I like action movies and superheroes.
Iron Man, Superman, Iron Man, Batman, Iron Man, Iron Man, and more Iron Man. No wonder Robert Downey, Jr.’s comment that he had a ‘pit crew’ of people helping him caught my eye!
In his own words, he was “…a Ferrari, not a Ford and it took more of a ‘pit crew’ to keep him on the road.” His remark catalyzed my exploration of the ‘pit crew’ supporting my life. The result is my newest – and eighth – career: Founder and CEO of SageLife, LLC.
SageMy™Life will help individuals, families and businesses become aware of the ‘pit crews’ in their life: the networks of people who help them achieve their goals for health, happiness and success. Then, it will help them manage those networks more efficiently and effectively.
SageLife is a natural extension of my earlier careers. In each one, I organized chaos, solved complex problems and created effective strategies for clients. Some called me a “one-woman think tank.” To many, I was a confidential adviser, especially during tough times. With me, they shared their deepest desires to create a better world and their toughest leadership challenges in doing so. I have profound respect and admiration for each one.
My expertise comes from interdisciplinary doctoral studies and senior positions in the public, not-for-profit and private sectors. I was an appointee of President Ronald Reagan responsible for policy issues in domestic and international programs valued (in current dollars) at $70 billion. In that role, I worked with President Jimmy Carter and the best-of-the-best in public health. For my efforts, I was the first civilian to be awarded The Surgeon General’s Medallion, by C. Everett Koop. I was Chairman of the National Commission on Orphan Disease and was awarded a medal for contributions in that field as well. I was an innovator creating global public policy operations in the biopharmaceutical industry, at Merck & Co., Inc. During Merck’s Most Admired Corporation years, my group won recognition as the best in the Fortune 500. As Global Vice President of Merck’s Vaccine Division, designed world-wide operations, tripling sales in fewer than three years to $1 billion, creating the platform for current sales of $3 billion.
SageLife will be the third company I founded. Strategic Health Policy International, Inc. advised businesses and governments for more than 20 years. Best Edge™ is only eight years old and is the forerunner to SageLife. Prior to my public health career, I worked as one of the first of a new generation of School Psychologists. The models I created for educating children with special needs – and special talents – eventually became standard practice throughout the nation.
Most of my writing is proprietary and cannot be shared except with clients, but the solutions I has created are well known and earned me a place as an inaugural Disruptive Women in Healthcare. I’ve authored several books, among them Covenants: Inspiring the Soul of Healing and innovative Grantseeking.
My newest book, The NetworkSage:Realize Your Network Superpower, is in press. The SeniorSage: Independent Living in the Age of Longevity will be released in 2018 and I have several others on the back-burner for when I can find the time!
As a philanthropist, I played a key role in creating several Foundations and donated proceeds from my books to improve the health of women and children in the developing world. I also donate cards, prints and posters of my mu shin style of Zen calligraphy to fundraisers for children with special needs.
I believe management of networks will unleash the ‘pent up’ potential I see in everyone. It will help people everywhere transform life for themselves and others. It will help seniors live better and more independently. All of us will be better for it. SageMy™Life is my way of helping to make that happen.
